Larry J. Moray, DDS, MS

Dr. Moray brings a unique perspective to his practice. His life philosophy has been to enjoy the richness of life’s many experiences, and this permeates all his endeavors. Dr. Moray moved to Chapel Hill in 1979, entering a PhD program in neurobiology in 1982. He completed his dental training at the University of North Carolina in 1990, and spent one year in a hospital dental residency in Hampton, Virginia. From 1991 to 1994, he taught at the VCU/MCV School of Dentistry and ran the hospital dental clinic at MCV Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia.

Following graduation from his orthodontic residency at UNC in 1997, Dr. Moray opened his office at Preston Corners and then opened his office in Chapel Hill in September of 2001. Dr. Moray continues to teach part-time at UNC.

For fun, Dr. Moray competes in triathlons, so he can often be found running and cycling around Cary and neighboring areas!

Dr. Richard Beane

Dr. Richard Beane, Jr. was a Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the UNC School of Dentistry for the past 32 years. He received his DDS from Howard University in 1967. Dr. Beane served a one-year pediatric internship at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester and completed the requirements for an orthodontic certificate from Eastman in 1970. He joined the orthodontic faculty at Howard University in Washington, DC in 1971 and served as Acting Chairman from 1972 to 1975.

In 1976, Dr. Beane entered private practice in Durham, NC and also joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina as a part-time member in the Department of Orthodontics. In 1994, Dr. Beane accepted a full-time position until his recent retirement in 2007. He continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member.

Dr. Beane’s research interests are in the clinical treatment of open bite and bimaxillary protrusion, the role of orthodontics in public assistance programs and orthodontic indices of treatment need and treatment.

Dr. Beane was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in February of 1994. Dr. Beane’s current interests include traveling with his beautiful wife, Phyllis, and spending time with his family and eight grandchildren. He also enjoys playing golf during his leisure time.

 

 

Dr. Rachel Hamilton 

Dr. Rachel Hamilton grew up in Augusta, GA, where she attended A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering High School.  She graduated from high school and continued her education at Augusta College in Augusta, GA, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Augusta College. 

After college, Dr. Hamilton moved to Nashville, TN and attended Meharry Medical College-School of Dentistry. She graduated from dental school with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. 

After graduation from dental school, Dr. Hamilton attended Case Western Reserve University-School of Dentistry, in Cleveland, Ohio.  At Case, she received a certificate Orthodontics and a Master’s of Science in Dentistry. 

For the last seven years she has been practicing Orthodontics in South Carolina until she recently moved to North Carolina and joined The Happy Tooth Organization.

Dr. Rachel enjoys traveling, reading, and crocheting and she has a cat named Q-tip, whom she adores.
